Polytunnel Fitter & General Operative![]()
Location: Full time Head-quarters in Glenbrien Enniscorthy with ability to travel occasionally.
Summary:
Candidate would be required to learn all functions and processes within in a workshop environment and occasionally work in the nursery. As a general operative they will be responsible for the manufacture and production of polytunnel parts to meet the customer demands within given deadlines. They will be required to work as part of a fitting team to fit polytunnels on site which will include travel and occasional overnight stays. As a general operative candidate, they must be able handle and prioritise multiple tasks while maintaining a schedule and keeping an organised work environment. On occasion they will be required to carry out duties within the nursery which comprise of watering, feeding order picking and other general nursery duties
Reporting:
Candidate will report directly to Management and D-Plant R&D team and will work on the workshop floor and on site for projects of varying levels of complexity.
The individual must have a keen ability to carry out innovative projects from start to finish. They will also be expected to ensure that end user feedback will be well documented.
The core purpose of the Polytunnel Fitter and General Operative is to ensure that all effort and focus is placed on ensuring that all inputs and outputs related to product manufacture and fitting are completed in line with company project plans and timelines, to quality specifications and processes and most importantly as to customer requirements.
Products are generally composed of multiple manufacturing processes and must comply with rigorous mechanical and environmental specifications.
We require the successful candidate to have the ability to learn our manufacturing and fitting processes in order to develop products to suit our customer’s needs.
Skills:
• Aptitude for maths and problem solving.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite).
• Proficiency with hand tools.
• Stock taking, stock reporting and material ordering.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Provide quick response to production issues.
• Customer focused – Ability to liaise with customers.
• Organisation - Ability to plan, organize and work to tight deadlines.
• Project planning is a critical skill.
• Attention to detail and ability to focus on complex tasks.
• Ability to generate new ideas and problem solve.
• Continuous improvement.
• Flexible and adaptable - Ability to travel on behalf of the company once settled into the company.
Essential Requirements:
• Full Clean Irish/ European driving licence.
• Own Transport.
• Safe Pass.
• Leaving Certificate or equivalent level.
• Ensure all work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
• Manage and work with suppliers.
• Support co-workers and share experience and previous learning’s.
• IT literate.
